Taurus - the only bull that can play the saxophone!
The universal locomotives of the Eurosprinter family, ES64U2 and ES64U4, are much better known under the trade name of the ÖBB - Taurus (Latin for bull - a mythological symbol of strength). A total of 509 units in several versions were produced by Siemens between 1999 and 2011.
They can be seen going under various voltage systems practically all over Central Europe, both in passenger and freight transport. In the Czech Republic, we know the locomotives mainly from the prestigious RailJet services.
The machine is really powerful and fast, holding the world speed record for electric locomotives in general - 357 km/h!
Did you know that the Taurus has a very specific sound during the takeoff? It basically sounds like a saxophone, playing do-re-mi!
