For the then Czechoslovak State Railways, the East German carriage manufacturer VEB Waggonbau Bautzen produced several thousand of them between 1965 and 1985. In their modernized - "humanized" - form, they can still be found on some fast train connections.
Beloved or reviled, they definitely belong on a T-shirt!
