Postcard ŽRALOK
Motor unit 844, officialy named RegioShark in Czech Republic, but mostly known as „Žralok“ („Shark“ in English), is relatively new addition to Czech railway family.

Twin-carriage motor units are produced by PESA Bydgoszcz in Poland for Czech railways. The power transfer is hydromechanical, carriages are made from steel. The unit consists of two carriages parts jointly sharing Jacobs bogie. The main advantage is lower weight and improved safety in the case of derailment, because the carraiges – thanks to a shared suspension – are less prone to swerve. On the other hand, this solution does not offer an option to split the unit and that can be considered as a disadvantage in some cases.
The unit has brought a 21st century way of traveling to local railways without electrification, as it offers air suspension, Wi-Fi connectivity and greater comfort and speeds. Especially in direct comparison to motor unit 814.
