The Škoda 69E, Class 263, nicknamed the “Princezna” (Princess), is a Czechoslovak four-axle electric locomotive built in the 1980s for operation on the 3 kV DC electrification system.
It was developed as a more modern and technically advanced successor to the earlier Laminátka and Plecháč locomotive classes and was intended primarily for express passenger services. Although the new locomotives proved highly reliable and offered better traction performance than the Class 163/363 locomotives, only twelve units were ever built.
While our Máša and Dáša are already part of history, the Princesses still reign on the railway lines around Bratislava.
They say that a love of railways lasts a lifetime. More often than not, it is passed down from one generation to the next. So let's welcome the next generation of railway enthusiasts in style.
