The original habitat of these gorillas used to be the winding railway line through the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Today, they call the Tatra Mountains home.

We’re talking about the ČSD Class 350 electric locomotives, originally designated ES499.0—elite express machines from Škoda Plzeň, nicknamed “Gorillas” thanks to their power and speed.

The first prototype of this dual-system locomotive, designated Škoda 55E, rolled out of the Škoda Works in 1973. A total of 20 units were produced. Interestingly, they only began to regularly reach their top speed of 160 km/h in the year 2000.

They used to lead prestigious express trains with resonant names: Balt-Orient, Meridian, Hungaria, Slovenská strela, and others.

In 2024, after 50 years of service, their official retirement began. The route from Bratislava to Košice, beneath the majestic peaks of the Tatras, with the Ex Tatran trains, will be their swan song.

Men’s pullover hoodie with a kangaroo pocket. It is pleasant to the touch and will always make you comfortable and warm thanks to its composition and smooth knit. An elastic neckline makes the hoodie easy to put on and also maintains shape. The sleeves and the bottom edge of the hoodie are lined with rib knit. This hoodie must not be missing in the closet of any true train enthusiast.
