The DB Class V 100 locomotive was developed for the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the 1950s and 1960s. It was primarily used on branch lines, where it handled both passenger services and lighter freight transport. It was known for its reliability, ease of maintenance, and the characteristic red DB livery.
Later, individual variants were reclassified as Classes 211, 212, and 213 based on their power output and technical design. Many of these locomotives are still in operation today with private operators or on heritage railways in various European countries.
